During a crisis or epidemic, there is a strain on existing infrastructures, especially on existing weakened health systems. The Covid epidemic presents unique challenges to the health system of many Low Middle Income Countries, including Nigeria. The focus on treating and preventing spread of the epidemic has and will continue to put strain to accessing sexual and reproductive health services for many vulnerable and marginalised communities. Women who experience perinatal mental disorders or domestic violence are at increased risk at this time, as most sources for care have been shut down or are inaccessible.

Postpartum Support Network Africa is a Non-profit organization set up to raise awareness about perinatal mood and anxiety disorders among mothers in Africa. PSN Africa has educated thousands of mothers and have consistently helped mothers get professional help to overcome postpartum depression.

We would also like to call all governments, civil society organisations and international organisations and NGOs to commit to the following:

• To integrate and ensure access to Emergency and Basic Obstetric and neonatal health care during this epidemic
• To support access to mental health services and prioritise this in policies and emergency responses to the epidemic
• To promote awareness and support efforts to provide support for women experiencing perinatal mood disorders and collaborate on innovative support and interventions for them.
